He had been a member of the Consiglio di Stato del Cantone Ticino (the executive body of the Canton of Ticino) for several legislations, during which he was in charge of the Department of Finance and Economic affairs, the Department of Environment, the Military Department, the Department of Justice and the Department of Planning and Construction.
