Since 1995 Renzo Respini has worked as an attorney at the law firm TEAM LEGAL SA (previously Respini Jelmini Beretta Piccoli).
From 1998 to 2015, he was a Board member of Alp Transit Gotthard AG, contributing to the construction of the New Railway Link through the Alps.
From 1995 to 1999 he was a member of the Council of States, representing the Canton of Ticino in the Federal Parliament. During his term, he was a member of the following committees: environmental committee, spatial planning and energy committee, economic affairs and taxation committee, social security and health committee, and the committee for the total revision of the Federal Constitution.
From 1983 to 1995 he was a member of the Government of the Canton of Ticino. During three terms he was Chief of the Departments of Finance and Economic Affairs, the Department of Justice and the Department of Planning and Construction. He was three times President of the Cantonal Government.
From 1978 to 1983 he was the Public prosecutor of the Canton of Ticino.
From 1973 to 1977 he was a legal trainee at the law firm Pagani, Lugano.
From 1969 to 1972 he worked as a legal counsel at the Legal office of the Federal Department of Finance.
Renzo Respini, attorney at law
Renzo Respini’s main activity fields comprise estate and capital planning, inheritance law and public notary. He is active in consulting and management of non-profit organisations with humanitarian, charitable and cultural purpose.
He had been a member of the Consiglio di Stato del Cantone Ticino (the executive body of the Canton of Ticino) for several legislations, during which he was in charge of the Department of Finance and Economic affairs, the Department of Environment, the Military Department, the Department of Justice and the Department of Planning and Construction.
He furthered his political career by becoming deputy of the Council of States of the Swiss Parliament, in which position he was involved in several important Federal commissions.
